My background spans strategy, growth, customer experience, operations, marketing, technology, and project leadership, which means I tend to see both the big picture and the things getting in its way.


I get invested. When I take on a project, I care about whether it actually works, not just whether I delivered what was in the scope. I stay engaged, follow through, and hold myself accountable for moving the work toward the outcome we agreed on.


I’m also not attached to a particular framework or solution. If the evidence tells us the original idea isn’t the right one, we change course.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working across business strategy, project and program leadership, operations, marketing, technology, and customer experience.


The common thread has always been the same: walking into something complicated, figuring out what’s really going on, and helping people move forward.


Sometimes that has meant rescuing a slipping project. Other times, building a process from scratch, improving a customer journey, shaping a new business idea, or helping a team decide which of six competing priorities actually matters.


I’m not especially interested in producing impressive-sounding advice that creates more work for you.


I’m much more interested in getting to the real issue, making it understandable, and working out what will actually help.

HOW I WORK

Clear thinking first. Then practical action.

I like to understand the whole picture before jumping to solutions.


That means asking the right questions, finding the real issue, and separating what matters from what is simply making noise.


From there, I help turn the thinking into something useful: a decision, a plan, a process, a better customer journey, or a project that is finally moving again.


I’m collaborative, but I’m also comfortable being direct. If I think something is overcomplicated, unnecessary, or unlikely to work, I’ll say so.


The goal is not more strategy for the sake of strategy. It is to leave you with greater clarity, better decisions, and a practical way forward.

A FEW THINGS I BELIEVE

Good work starts with trust, clarity, and honesty.

I believe the best work happens when there are clear goals, open communication, mutual commitment, and enough trust to say what actually needs to be said.


I’m friendly, collaborative, and fairly direct. I’m English, so apparently directness came pre-installed. I’ve learned to soften the edges a little after 20-something years in the US, but I still won’t nod enthusiastically at an idea I think is likely to waste your time or money.


I like keeping things as simple as possible. Business is complicated enough without adding unnecessary process, jargon, meetings, or layers of strategy that nobody will ever use.


The strongest businesses tend to know who they are, who they help, and what they do well. Then they get on with doing it.

WHEN I'M NOT WORKING

I live on a small rural property in Vermont with dogs, sheep, chickens, ducks, gardens, and an endless list of things that need doing. I grew up on a farm in England and wanted to be a vet as a child, so apparently this was inevitable.


In winter, I spend as much time as possible with my nose in a non-fiction book. A real one, made of paper. I’m fascinated by philosophy, the nature of reality, and the hard problem of consciousness, which I spend far too much time thinking about.


My dogs sleep on the bed. Somehow it’s important you know this. I wish Vermont winters were shorter, even though they are ridiculously beautiful. And I’m always polite to ChatGPT, partly because manners matter and partly because I’m hedging my bets for the arrival of superintelligence.


I seem to need both sides of life: work that stretches my brain, and work that gets me outside, using my hands and getting dirty.
